April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month!
This year marks the 20th anniversary for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is to raise awareness, empower and support survivors of interpersonal violence, and build upon prevention efforts. The activities held during this month allows us the opportunity to commit to addressing and preventing sexual violence on campus and in the surrounding community. We are excited that UC President Michael Drake is promoting SAAM and we wanted to create an opportunity for the UCSB community to follow in those footsteps*.

CARE is the interpersonal violence primary prevention and education resource on campus. Our efforts aim to intervene before violence occurs and (re)create a campus and society where it is no longer acceptable. In alignment with CARE values, we utilize relevant research and a survivor-centered approach to inform the education we provide. CARE staff provide educational workshops for student organizations, clubs and groups on a variety of topics as well as training for professional staff, student staff, and faculty.
Survivor Healing Programs
CARE recognizes that healing is not limited to one modality and values all forms of healing. Our healing programs create transformative and nurturing spaces in which survivors who have experienced trauma can find safety, connection and support. We offer a variety of holistic programs designed to provide restorative experiences that facilitate opportunities for self-reconnection.
The Clothesline Project
The Clothesline Project is composed of t-shirts created by survivors of violence, or in honor and support of someone who has experienced violence. This virtual exhibit focuses on providing healing for survivors of interpersonal violence, educating the public about interpersonal violence and the steps we can take to stop it from happening on our campuses and communities.
