Our Mission
CARE's mission is to provide professionally designed services for the prevention and intervention of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking and harassment. All services are free and confidential and are available to students, staff, and faculty of all identities. Through policy development and community collaborations we are committed to survivor empowerment and a public health approach for prevention.
Our Values
-
Hope: Fostering the belief that one's future can change for the better and that we have ability to make that happen
-
Competence: The observable knowledge, skill, and abilities to understand trauma and its effects on individuals and communities, to achieve learning outcomes in primary prevention education, and to act ethically and professionally in the best interest of survivors at all times
-
Diversity: The recognition campus-base violence is inherently linked to all forms of oppression and that we cannot disregard the way current systems and institutions perpetuate inequality or how clients intersecting identities impact how they heal and access services
-
Strength: To understand the courage and resilience survivors practice when they seek and trust resources. Staff must mirror that strength in their work, meeting survivors with courage, empathy, and understanding that each experience is unique which means maintaining a healthy and hopeful staff is imperative to best serve survivors
-
Communication: The ability to thoughtfully articulate support for a person, cause, or policy or to exchange information in a way that fosters understanding and promotes confidence and collaboration
